Half or completely open drain pipes is what the FD2 nozzle was designed for!  The hardened stainless steel nozzle includes 3D fluid mechanics which provide it excellent cleaning and pulling power. At the same time, the one-piece ceramic inserts spray at an angle which prevents water from splashing upwards out of the channel.
